Which Bikes Team Up With Which Shimano Cycling Shoes?
Shimano Cycling Shoes offer you a great cross section of footwear to go biking in, but which styles fit with your type of bike?
In this article we breakdown the different bike categories and suggest the most suitable Shimano cycling shoes for the task.
Road Bike
The traditional road bike is used for road riding, club rides and criteriums.
While the popular road bike has many distinct frame geometries to maintain the preferences of beginner and expert riders alike, the components they use are comparable in design and function. The road bike has drop-handlebars and skinny tires on a taller frame. Road bike gear choices are classified as double and triple gearing.
Pro Tour features at a more affordable outlay
SH-R190 SH-R133L
SH-R106L SH-WR61
SH-R087G SH-WR41
SH-R077 SH-WR31L
The Road Competition and Sport series combines the three most vital properties of a competitive racing shoe: Solidity, Rigidity and Light Weight.
Time-Trial/Triathlon Bikes
These types of bicycles are built for speed and are designed to put the rider out in a more aerodynamic body angle.
This is accomplished by incorporating the use of aero bars, that makes the rider more aerodynamic so creating a faster ride. The drawback with time trial or triathlon bikes is that they are put together for speed on shorter courses.
Where these bikes contradict with regular road bikes is in the chain ring combinations on the cranksets (designed for high-speeds on relatively level land) and the types of shifters that are used on the aero bars.
Triathlon and Multi-Sport racing
SH-TR71 SH-TR52
SH-WT52 SH-TR31
The Triathlon/Multi-Sport group meets the relentless needs called for with high ventilation, seemless interiors and rapid drying mesh for better comfort without socks.
Touring Bikes
A touring bike is produced for simply what the name says, "Touring." The notion of hopping on your bike with a lot of panniers and going out to get a load of the country side.
These bikes generally have a more upright position. Most classic road bikes can be converted into a touring bike, but a true touring bike offers a few differences that make it ideal for wandering with your panniers or bags.
One is more stopping power by the use of cantilever brakes, which need the use of cantilever bosses constructed into the frame. The other is a greater range of gears to get you up hills easier with the use of triple gearing.
Road sport & touring cycling
SH-MT53 SH-MT42NV
SH-WM41 SH-MT33L
SH-MT22
The RT-Series has a lightweight & variable SPD shoe/pedal system for all-around riding, touring and fitness cycling. These models utilize the sunken MTB-style SPD cleat for off-the-bike on foot comfort.

problem spacing my bottom bracket?
hello, recently i bought a shimano saint (2009) crankset (m815 model), for my devinci wilson. my bottom bracket is 83mm, the shimano site said i should be running two 2.5mm spacers on my driveside bb and one 2.5mm spacer on the non-driveside. I have done this and when i put the cranks on the chainring was hitting my chainstay?? I am certain i used the correct size spacers, and my chainring is mounted properly and is only a 38 tooth ring so it should have tons of clearance? should i be putting another spacer on my driveside?
If I understand this correctly I had the same problem recently. My problem was that the crank I used did not match the geometry of the frame I put it on. Take it to a bike shop and ask if they have one that fits you frame geometry. If this is not the problem still take it to the bike shop because they can tell you what the problem is. Hope tis helps
