Gateway Canyons is located in Gateway, CO in the beautiful red rock canyon country south of Grand Junction. Hotel, Restaurant, Shopping, Auto Museum, Outdoor Activities, Horseback Riding, Fly Fishing, Mt. Biking, Hiking, and much more!

Racers will be shuttled to the mouth of Sinbad Canyon, run along the dirt road and up to Sky Mesa Ranch in the pine trees. Racers will then run down John Brown Canyon Road. Finish is at the Gateway Canyons Resort. Runners will be on trails and dirt roads for the first 26 miles.

BBQ from 12:00 to 5:00 pm. Awards Ceremony at 2:00 pm.

 

The race will begin at the mouth of Sinbad Valley on 7.2 Road ( Sinbad Valley Road ) located 10 miles south of Gateway Canyons. This first annual race will attract approximately 100 runners from around the region. Trail running and especially long distance trail running events are highly desired and attract top athletes and "nature lovers". A trail marathon is especially more difficult than a road marathon; this is the attraction.

The course will take the runners up the county road into Sinbad Valley through a beautiful red rock canyon with towering Wingate Sandstone walls. The south side of the county road forms the border of the Sewemup Mesa Wilderness Study Area and follows Salt Creek which at times can be nearly as salty as the ocean.
